A Robin Hood's Bay New Year

Have you been wondering where to spend your New Year's Eve?

Spending Quality Time with Your Loved Ones?

Have You Wondered Just How Magical a Coastal New Year's Eve Could Be?

Read on to find out all you need to know about spending New Years Eve in Robin Hood’s Bay

Robin Hood’s Bay

Perched on the coast between the surrounding cliffs of Scarborough and Whitby sits a Bay. The backdrop of the Bay is an old Yorkshire fishing village. This is Robin Hood’s Bay, the gem on the picturesque coastal edge of the North York Moors National.

Built on a steep hill the old 17th Century village heads down to the Bay. Winding streets, steep steps and cobbled alleyways make up what was once called Baytown. A maze of a village it’s easy to get lost here in Robin Hood’s Bay. Just all part of the magic of what makes it so special.

Robin Hood’s Bay harbours a deep rooted history of smuggling. The Kings Beck, cottage cellars, secret passages and snickets all helped with the illicit activities. Smuggling of Rum, Tea, Silk and Tobacco. There wasn't a person in the village that didn't participate in the illegal activities. Be it the smuggling, hiding, transporting or protecting of the secret goings on.

Legend has it that contraband could leave the Bay and reach the top of the village without ever seeing daylight. You can still see evidence of Robin Hood’s Bay’s smuggling past to this day and you can learn more at the local museum.

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Robin Hood’s Bay is the gem on the coast of the North York Moors National Park. Here you will be surrounded by Yorkshire nature, adventure and beauty.

Enjoy Christmas and New Year walks on the beach blowing the cobwebs away or the Christmas and New Years Eve Hangover. Quaint, cosy old 18th century cottages, smoking chimneys and red pantiled rooftops. Cobbled alleyways just waiting for you to explore and get lost. Even if only for a few minutes. Cosy pubs, roaring fires, mulled wine and gathering in the Dock at Midnight on New Years Eve. Take a New Years Eve Ghost Walk and listen to tales of Legends, Boggles, Ghosts and Ghouls of many years past.

New Years Eve & New Year in Robin Hood’s Bay

Gather under the moon and stars in the festive Dock as the countdown begins. Bring in the New Year with those you hold dear. Enjoy the magical atmosphere as holiday makers new and old and locals young and old come together. And when the evening is done retreat to your cosy cottage abode. When morning arrives and you awake, what better to wash away the foggy head of festivities than a brisk January beach walk.

During your stay enjoy walks along the Cleveland Way, The Cinder Track and the Beach. Learn about Robin Hood’s Bay’s sinister past at the Robin Hood’s Bay and Fylingdales Museum. Discovering how smugglers hid and transported contraband all around the village through a network of secret tunnels and passageways.

Fill your boots with cake and hot chocolate with all the trimmings at the quaint little tearooms. Devour the tastiest and freshest Fish ’n’ Chips followed by locally homemade ice cream. Huddle up in a cosy pub and relax with a warming hot mulled wine.

Treat yourself and your loved ones in the cute independent shops of Robin Hood’s Bay. We even have one for the dogs. Explore the cobbled alleyways where the old fishing families of Bay once walked. Quite literally walk in the footsteps of Robin Hood's Bay's ancestors.

Head out to Whitby for the day or explore the North York Moors National Park. You will find a whole host of adventures, sights to see and spectacular views.
