Krampus is Coming …… to Whitby!
When you sit back and think of? No? Well it’s a thing, so little children beware and hope you’ve been good this year.
Traditionally across Europe the ancient folklore suggest the Christmas Krampus makes his visit on the night of December the 5th to punish naughty children. Saint Nicholas or Santa Clause as we in the United Kingdom know Father Christmas is the good to the Krampus’s bad. Where Santa gifts children who have been good all year on Christmas Eve, the Christmas Krampus leaves sticks for naughty children or swats them with them and even takes very naughty children away.
Saturday December 1st, 2018 plays host to the 4th Whitby Krampus Run, a unique event to Yorkshire and possibly the UK. The parade starts on Church Street at 3:30pm where you can join an array of Krampus's and their companions and watch as they parade down Church Street. In Whitby Market Place you will find a selection of stalls. Krampus will continue to parade throughout the day where you will have the opportunity to take photos with them, if you dare. In the evening Krampus's, their companions and children (strictly those over the age of 18) can let their fur down and enjoy entertainment at the Friendship Rowing Club.
Why not come and enjoy a little bit of Christmas folklore, taking a relaxing coastal escape in Robin Hood’s Bay for 2 or 3 nights just 6 miles away from Whitby. Spend Friday evening having dinner in one of the Bistro’s, Restaurants or many pubs Robin Hood’s Bay has to offer.
