We've been a bit quiet on the old blogging front but we're back and here to tell you all about what we have been up to.
We at Baytown Holiday Cottages have been busy beavering away increasing the collection of cottages that we have to offer you, our lovely customers. We have increased by a fantastic 50 percent taking us to a grand total of twelve cottages. Three cottages are available to book for 2019 onwards and one available to book now for 2018 onwards. That is a massive six months plus additional time to get booking for properties that would not ordinarily be made available till January 2019! Now as pleased as punch as we are, and we really, really are, the hard work doesn't stop there.
Let us introduce to you Fisherman's Cottage. Probably one of the most iconic buildings in Robin Hood's Bay it sits at the very heart of the lower village right in the Dock. Back when every other building seemed to be a pub it served the public as the Fisherman's Arms. Now you might not think that this is very exciting but there is many a legend and story to be told about this once watering hole. What tales are there to be told? Well you can read all about them in "A Rum Do - Smuggling in and around Robin Hood's Bay" or if you partake in the Robin Hood's Bay Ghost Walk you may be lucky enough to hear of such legends and tales as Rose takes you on a journey through the winding cobbled streets. Well we can't give all the mystery away can we?
Fisherman’s Cottage is full of charm, sleeps five and you’ll be pleased to hear accepts two pets so none of the family will have to stay at home, not even the furry members. Don’t forget to treat the furry additions to a visit at Paws of Robin Hood’s Bay for their very own holiday treats. Less than a stone’s throw from the beach and all the action Robin Hood’s Bay has to offer you’ll never be bored here. With a large window seat, cosy cushions & throws it’s the perfect spot to watch the world go by below or read a book.
The open plan kitchen and dining area waits to greet you as you walk through the door ready for that all-important cuppa and chatter around the kitchen table. Venture up the first flight of stairs to the cosy oak panelled living room complete with open fire for those cosy evenings.
Continue up where you’ll find the light airy crisp white master bedroom and further along the all-important bathroom. Finally make your way up the final set of almost ladder like stairs into the eaves where you have another double and twin beds. So, whether you’re Mum, Dad, 3 kids*, or a group of friends, if you want to be at the heart of everything then this a fabulous little spot for you.

Now let us introduce to you what we have to offer for 2019.
Yarra House is situated on the very idyllically named Bloomswell towards the top of the lower village of Robin Hood’s Bay. Yarra House sits not too far from the square the true and original heart of the village, not really a square but a bit more of a triangle. Boasting views over the iconic red rooftops out across the bay towards the Ravenscar headland you would be forgiven for whiling away your days just taking in the stunning view. With the added addition of a large window seat and even larger window this really is the most inviting spot to sit.
Yarra House is accessed from the upper side of Bloomswell and the lower side of the Esplanade, confusing we know but we like to keep you on your toes. Head down the corridor into the very heart of the house the open plan kitchen, dining and living room. Complete with a multi fuel log burner for those extra cosy nights in when the air has a chill just perfect for enjoying movie nights. From here you have another small corridor that takes you off into the all-important modern bathroom.
You will find a staircase that takes you down to the spacious twin bedroom. From here you can also access the lower side of Bloomswell where you will find on street bench seating for all your group. The perfect spot to enjoy your morning cuppa or evening drinks as the street catches the days rays.
As well as the lower floor staircase you will also find the staircase to the light and airy master bedroom complete with a four-poster bed. Boasting the same amazing views as the middle floor but slightly more elevated you might be forgiven for not wanting to tear yourself away from bed in the mornings.
The perfect stay for two or four. You will be pleased to know one pooch is also welcome as part of your party. If you don’t own one then you might just want to borrow one. After all, holidays don’t get any more dog friendly than Robin Hood’s Bay.
Also, there is the bonus of being within spitting distance of Berties of Bay. No one would blame you for spending your holiday spends in one fell swoop here. An emporium of past and present all rolled into one there’s so many purchases to be made.
Popping along now, we head back down into the lower village, past the shops, over the bridge, right up Jim Bell’s Style and left along Brigg Garth and you’ll come to a blue door on your left. Behind this very blue door we have Roma Cottage. Roma Cottage is the very essence of cosy, heading in you can go left down the stairs to the modern spacious, airy kitchen and dining room. Complete with dining table for all your party this addition very much gives the kitchen that true cottage feel. Additional seating comes in the form of a window seat where you can look onto New Road below and the passers-by.
Heading back upstairs you have ahead the bathroom where you can soak away in lot’s of bubbles after a day’s walking perhaps along the Cleveland Way or the Cinder track. To your left you head into the cosy living room perfect for cosying up on the leather sofa and armchairs in front of the multifuel log burner during the colder months. Also looking out over New Road you can observe the world go by.
From the living room head upstairs where you have the cosy twin bedroom complete with bunk-beds and on your right the light, airy and very cosy master bedroom complete with en-suite shower room. Here on the top floor you will also find the WC or for the more to the point of us, the toilet and a wash basin.
A perfect getaway for two or for those with little ones or teenagers, close to all local amenities and not very far from the beach at all yet tucked away quite nicely from all the hustle and bustle.
From here we head on back up Bay Bank into the upper village of Robin Hood’s Bay just past the Victoria Hotel. Here we have Lynnfield a large, very spacious eclectic Victorian Terrace sleeping no less than ten guests and there’s room for the babies of the group, travel cots and the all important Man’s best friend or two. You’ll note on your way in there’s outdoor seating on the front patio complete with sea views. All bedrooms boast en-suite bathrooms aside from the top floor bedroom where the full-sized bathroom is further along the landing.
Lynnfield opens into an internal porch area and then into a fabulous large hallway complete with the original Victorian tiled floor. To your right you have the first large and main sitting room of the house with ample seating for all your party and an additional window seat looking out onto the patio providing views of the moorland and hills. Further on you come to the twin room of the house. Continue up the hallway into the dining room complete with large table fit to sit all your party complete with warmth provided by the AGA. A great room for drying off after a long day on the beach. The light kitchen finishes off the ground floor nicely with a large range cooker big enough to feed the crew of ten in one sitting. There is also an additional rear patio area and seating available in the storage boxes.
Head on up the first flight of stairs and you will come to the first two double bedrooms one a little cosier than the other but both complete with sea views. At the end of the landing you will find the large spacious grand master bedroom.
Take the second flight of stairs up to the top floor and as well as the final double bedroom and main bathroom you will find the second generously sized sitting room. Complete with L-shaped sofa and boasting another window seat with views also out to sea and over the moors. This room is a fantastic spot to tuck yourselves away from the outside world and bunker down ready for a film night.
