The Captain's Store - Robin Hood's Bay

The Captains's Store is compact but cosy - and perfectly placed for visiting the lower Bay. A perfect hideaway to relax, de-stress, and catch up with some familiar local faces and places.

It was a secret little hideaway perfect for what I needed to snuggle into the side of the cliff edge and enjoy some time for me. It had everything I needed, beautiful scenic walks, cosy fires, a shop with wine and chocolate! I was transported back in time hundreds of years ago at my little captains cabin. Blissful!!

After 13/14 years of Christmassing in RHB it never disappoints. It's the first time we've booked through Baytown Holiday Cottages and they were great. We got there early and were allowed straight into the cottage.Spotless,well equipped even though we don't cook much and very cosy. Excellent and prompt communication with Sam and Sian and we encountered no problems during our 10 night stay. Would definitely book with them again

We just love Robin Hoods Bay! The lack of cars old steep streets the smell of the sea and fish and chips. Full of friendly people enjoying themselves. Great walking and beaches

We love RHB, this stay in The Captain's Store was brilliant. The location is excellent, it was perfect for the two of us, and we couldn't have enjoyed it more.

We love our trips to Robin Hoods Bay. Walks along the beach and a little refreshment after. Sam from Baytowncottages does everything he can to provide a first class service and that’s why we are repeat customers.

From the point of booking, Sam was so helpful in advising us on the various cottages. The Captains Store was cosy and full of character, perfectly situated in the lower bay opposite the Store. We received a warm welcome from the locals, with a special mention to the Lauren Inn, hosting the weekly quiz night and the Victoria Hotel serving the most delicious home-cooked food overlooking the sea . A perfect base for exploring Sandsend, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Whitby.We can’t thank Sam enough for making our trip so special; nothing was too much trouble! We look forward to going back and making more precious memories in Robin Hood Bay.

The Captains Store is a perfect bolthole in the centre of RHB. We are regular visitors and always use Baytown. We've never been disappointed yet.Sam is always on hand and goes above and beyond. We never get tired of this place.

We had a great stay at the Captain's Store. It was very cosy and was just the right size for us. We had everything we needed. There was a lovely Christmas tree in the store to add festive spirit and the whole village was decked out in xmas decorations. Will defo book again

I’m a regular visitor to Robin Hoods Bay, it’s an absolute gem, with great scenery, pubs with real ales, restaurants,cafes, bistros, brick-a- brack and local hospitality. There’s great cliff top walks too Scarborough(for advanced 17miles) and Whitby for (Novice 6miles) with bud journeys accessible for returning(£2).The only thing you must be aware of is the steep hill from the bottom to the top so if you have any disabilities or struggle with your fitness you could find this a challenge, otherwise it’s a small price to pay for the character and history of this old English smugglers cove.

always love RBH but this time was special as our daughter had her wedding here. Lovely few days everything went perfectly.

We always enjoy coming to RHB and the location of The Captain's Store, halfway down the hill, is ideal.

We visit RHB around 4-6 times a year and are thrilled with the service Sian & Sam offer at Baytowncottages, they are our number 1 stop for accommodation . They will pull out all the stops to ensure we have a fantastic break. We love RHB for the lovely big dog friendly beach and its surrounding areas. Nothing beats a refreshing stroll followed by a drink at The Bay people watching.On another note the accommodation was clean and compact we have stayed in it a few times now. I would politely suggest (not complain) the key safe is replaced to a newer model, it is far too fiddly. Yes the accommodation is for 2 persons but I feel 3 dinner plates 1 of them chipped is a touch sparse and lastly an extra towel hook on the bathroom door would be benificial. We loved it anyway!

Absolutely adore Robin Hoods Bay it’s such a magical place. I stay with Baytown Holiday Cottages who are fantastic. So much to see and do in the area. It’s my happy place.

Cozy and well equipped accommodation in a beautiful location, perfect for a short break away from the hustle and bustle to recharge the batteries. We go the east coast every year as it has everything we need, good food, friendly people, and stunning scenery to walk the dog. It can’t be beat.

I had another lovely relaxing stay in Captains Store and I have always loved Robin Hood's Bay been there many times, I find Captain's Store so lovely and convenient to get to places as you get older , I know it's early but I would like to book it again for next year from 17th February to 24th February 2024 . Such a lovely village, and we like the freedom of having accommodation where you can just relax, and come and go as you please.

Have booked through Sam and Sian before and have never been disappointed each cottage has been lovely and clean this time we stayed in the Captains Store as expected its small but as they say perfectly formed there is everything you need and sitting looking out the window from the lounge people watching down the cobbled street was lovely, a very sweet cozy stay would definitely go back!Trish& lee

We loved our few days at the Captain's Store. Its compact but very comfy with a lovely private little terrace to sit with a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Only slight drawbacks were perhaps that the small double bed is a little snug for two tall adults and it could do with an extra wine glass in the kitchen (only one provided!). Other than very minor niggles, it's a lovely location and the bay has so much to offer with lovely walks, places to eat etc.

We love the cottage we stay in, it may be small but it has everything we need and it's so convenient for the local shop, the pub, the dock, everything! This trip the weather was perfect and the tide times were spot on to allow us maximum access to the beach. We travel light and buy everything we need from the local store - they really do seem to have the contents of a superstore packed into their fabulous shop! Local cafes, local events, and friendly local people just make our trip super-relaxing and we can't wait to be able to come back.

Second visit to the captains store and numerous times of using Baytown to book with. Sam and Sian are a fantastic couple, who will keep you upto date with your booking and nothing is ever too much. The place itself is small, 2 people max but cosy and just what we wanted. The price reflects the size but if it’s a cheap getaway for a few days you want then this is the place to stay. Bang opposite the local shop, next door to the fish shop and 20 yards from the Laurel Inn pub. In the Sun, you can dine on a small patio area using the table and chairs provided. We love the place.

Perfect place for 2 cosy and comfortable, great location great friendly village love this place always. Could maybe do with new pillows please. Would recommend baytown holiday cottages to all. Thank you Sam and Sian.

Really lovely stay in this cosy little find! Sam couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful, we were provided detailed information prior to our visit which helped us plan what we wanted to do and enjoy the local gems. Loads of dog friendly places which was great for our pup. We look forward to visiting again soon and would highly recommend you check out the bay and Baytown accommodation!

I have always loved Robin Hood's Bay been many times over the years , it's a place to relax and forget everything that's going on at the moment .

I had a great time,we went for a special birthday.It was very quiet time of the year but there was enough to do.

The only reason for a 3 star is the bed is just way too small for 2 adults. Otherwise I would give a four star. The cottage was very clean and in a perfect spot. But we wouldn’t stop here again due to the size of the bed.

This is our peaceful place. All stresses disappear and we can truly relax. We love supporting the local shops and businesses and meeting friendly faces again. The scenery is amazing no matter what the weather is like. The cottage we stayed in is perfectly placed, small but has everything we need, and we are very much looking forward to going back.

Small but perfectly formed accommodation, had everything you would need for a weekend away. Parking and drop off is easy. Well stocked local shop for all your food and drinks. An excellent meal at The Smugglers. Enjoyed jumping on the bus and walking back from Whitby and the coastal walk to Ravenscar stopping at Boggle Hole on the way. Only issue was the noise on an evening from people drinking outside the pub and the deliveries of milk and newspapers to the shop in the early hours of the morning, single glazing didn't do much in terms of soundproofing! Overall, a great stay.

We love Robin Hoods Bay its a lovely quaint village and so quiet at night. The Captains store was more than adequate for our needs for a weekend away with one small dog and as in all the properties here - you do need to be careful on the steep stairs.It was good to have an outside space with a gate - so the dog could go outside, it was just much smaller than I thought it would be. I would stay again.

Had a great time in Robin hoods bay and the surrounding areas... what made it so special was the quaint little cottage we stayed in , my husband , myself and our puppy fitted so well into The captains store.The beach was perfect for us to do some training with our little pouch and everyone is so friendly I felt like we were with family . Hopefully it won’t be long before we are back at this lovely little place.

3 night stay from17/10/20Cosy little cottage for two,spotlessly clean,making you feel very safe in these times of Covid. Everything you need in this lovely little bolt-hole . Will definately stay here again.
