Property Description

Darncliff is situated on Littlewood Terrace on the Fisherhead side of Robin Hood’s Bay. This stunning cottage accommodates up to 5 people over 4 floors and is a minutes’ walk from the dock and the beach.

The cottage has breathtaking views from the upper floors out across the village rooftops and out towards the sea and the Ravenscar headland.

Ground floor:

The main entrance to Darncliff takes you into a small hallway before leading you into the modern kitchen area. The kitchen is complete with a Rangemaster 4 ring gas burning stove on top of the standalone gas cooker. There is an under counter fridge and a Bosch slimline dishwasher next to the double bowl Belfast kitchen sink. The kitchen also houses all the regular appliances you would expect such as a 2-slice toaster, microwave and kettle as well as lots of storage space for utensils, pans and crockery. There is added space with a boot rack and coat hooks to keep those sandy boots and coats stored.

Two steps up from the kitchen is the rather spacious lounge area. This light and airy room is a great setting to relax after a long day of exploring. There is a TV with separate DVD player and two large sofas to completely relax in. There are two units packed with books and games to keep the whole family entertained.

Please note that both of the fires on the ground floor are non working and feature fireplaces only.

First Floor:

Stairs lead to the first-floor hallway and into the main double bedroom. The beautifully decorated bedroom has a double bed with matching side tables and bedside lamps. The window from the bedroom looks out to a stunning view over the village rooftops and out towards the Ravenscar headland. A large mirrored door wardrobe completes the room.

Next door is the single bedroom with a full size single bed.

Second Floor:

A further staircase leads to the top floor attic bedroom. Light pours into the room from the Velux and two further windows which provide stunning views out towards Ravenscar and out to sea. The bedroom has a 3/4 double bed and a single bed to provide flexibility and options for sleeping arrangements. There is a double doored wardrobe and chest of drawers for storage.

Lower ground floor:

Down the stairs from the kitchen area is the lower ground floor. A small corridor leads to the two bathrooms in the cottage. The first has an enclosed shower cubicle, wooden towel rack, WC and wash basin. Next door, the second bathroom has a bath, wash basin and WC. In the hallway, there is space under the stairs to store buckets, spades and fishing nets from adventures on the beach as well as shoes and bags.

Outside:

Outside to the right of the front door is a private bench for guests to use and sit on to enjoy the fresh air and sounds of the village. A bit further, there is a small patio area with a table and two chairs for guests to enjoy. When the weather suits, it is a great area to have lunch, dinner or enjoy a drink.

Darncliff has full gas central heating. Bed linen and towels are provided for guests..

Reviews

Great walks, lovely cakes and great to catch up with friends. Falling foss was a highlight as well as meals in the bay.

RHBay is one of our favourite places to visit. It is such a beautiful place to relax and unwind. Darncliff was a lovely cottagd to stay and right in the very heart of the Bay.

A lovely cottage with character in a perfect setting just a few steps from the beach acperfect break away from the stresses of daily life

We are repeat visitors to this cottage, we love it! It has a large, light and airy lounge, lovely big , well equipped kitchen /diner, and a fantastic view from the bedrooms . We will definitely stay here again , that says it all!

We try to stay in RHB at least once a year - we just love the place.

We badly needed a break after some recent illness in the family and we did a lot of reading, sleeping, tv watching and a bit of walking, sightseeing and sketching. Darncliff is really well placed for lugging things up from the car and the views from the bedroom windows are fantastic. It is also blissfully close to the fish and chip shop (our favourite in the UK).Mattress quality and cleanliness could be improved (we’ve clearly got used to the ‘enhanced cleaning’ measures initiated by the Covid pandemic, which to my mind are how cleaning should be done all the time). Washing up cloths/sponges were supplied, but no washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets. The lack of WiFi or freezer and the absence of a parking permit lessen the appeal for a further visit. But, on the upside, the property is roomy and attractively finished, well equipped, everything worked and we had a great four nights holiday in RHB! Contact with Sam was excellent throughout and he bailed me out by sending on my phone charger after I left it plugged in (for which I happily volunteered to, and did, reimburse him).

Beautiful place! Glorious views quaint cottage but plenty of space. Lovely area to explore

The bay is a wonderful place and a great escape from the modern world. Beech, pubs with good food and friendly staff, shops.. it has it all!! A place I have loved coming to over the last 20 + years and will always return to.

Robin Hoods Bay is a magical place. This was our third visit this year and we'll be back.Sam and Sian are brilliant!

A real home from home experience, we couldnt wish for a more relaxing retreat. The cottage was perfect and the Bay itself has a charm that keeps us going back again and again. The only negative is having to come back to reality and the chaotic rat race! We love Bay! We love the area and the people!

Cottage in peaceful location with great views of the sea and Christmas day sunrise over Ravenscar from the upper floors. Easy access to beach and lots of wonderful quiet walks - Quarterdeck cafe at Boggle Hole not to be missed! Cosy pubs close by serving fine ales.. All the ingredients for a perfect winter break.

Regular RHB visitors. We were very disappointed by the quality of the beds and mattresses in this property. Every one was squeaky and cheap. Such a shame as it's a lovely cottage just missing the quality.Great customer service from Baytown Cottages which could not fault.

Another wonderful stay in another wonderful cottage. Cannot thank the team enough for everything they do, spotless welcoming cottage, easy to book and check in without any fuss with Sam kindly calling to confirm the cottage was ready before the check-in time. The downside, having to leave and return to our chaotic lives! Will be booking our next escape in the days to come. Thank you!

We had a lovely stay at Robin Hoods Bay. The cottage was ideally suited for the beach and local amenities. The accommodation was comfortable with lovely views from the bedrooms, well equipped kitchen and spacious living room. Would recommend for a family stay.

Really enjoyed our stay at Darncliff in Robin Hood's Bay. Quirky cottage over 4 floors that keeps you fit. 2 bathrooms a must for 4 lady guests. Plenty of room for all of us. There are amazing views from the bedrooms.Sam and Sian a pleasure to deal with, responding quickly to any query. Will definitely book with them again. Thank you

We've had the perfect holiday! Being lucky enough to bump into Sam from Baytown cottages in the car park who showed us to our cottage, to the delightful, quirky cottage itself and finally the gorgeous bay itself, who could ask for more? We were lucky with lovely weather but covid restrictions meant some things were either not fully open or not open at all, but all the people we met were friendly and polite, even the under pressure shop and pub staff. We can't wait to go back and can't recommend Baytown Cottages enough.

We all really enjoyed our trip and the house (Darncliff) was brilliant. Clean, well maintained and all the facilities you could need! The views from the top floor are breathtaking. We will be booking again.

We’ve stayed in RHB before. It was nice to be in the heart of the village. The cottage is cosy and quite well equipped. Everything worked.
