Fifty Shades of Bay: Part 13 A Walk Through Time On The Cinder Track

Fifty Shades of Bay: Part 13 A Walk Through Time On The Cinder Track

A Walk Through Time On The Cinder Track

Calling all adventurers. Today's shade of Bay dives into a local gem that's ideal for exploring on foot, bike, or even by running shoes – The Cinder Track.

This Cinder Track boasts a rich history that stretches far beyond its current role as a scenic trail. Believe it or not, it used to be a bustling railway line, transporting passengers between the charming seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough. Now, transformed into a 21.5-mile haven for walkers, runners, and cyclists, The Cinder Track offers a blend of nature, exercise, and a touch of the past.

A Journey Through Time

As you embark on your Cinder Track adventure, keep your eyes peeled for remnants of its railway past. The trail winds through diverse landscapes, offering a range of scenery at every turn. Imagine strolling through peaceful stretches of woodland, feeling invigorated by the moorland air, or catching your breath as breathtaking sea views unfold before you. Lush fields and vibrant meadows add to the charm, making each step a visual adventure. Feeling ambitious? You can even connect with The Cleveland Way for an extended exploration, adding another layer of challenge and discovery to your journey.

Accessibility for All

Whether you're a seasoned hiker conquering vast terrains or a casual walker enjoying a leisurely stroll, the Cinder Track welcomes you with open arms. Both Whitby and Scarborough offer accessible starting points. Both of these starting points on the Cinder Track are reasonably flat with a mixture of tarmac and natural path making the trail more accessible to prams, pushchairs, wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
